The theme of this site is that, by using Web 2.0 and AJAX techniques, web sites that are far
more user-friendly can be built than in the past.
Conventional web sites are plagued by incessant page reloads across the internet in order
to refresh page contents, for example as users click on different menu items, or to update
shopping cart totals.
Web 2.0 technology greatly improves the user experience by loading
the basic page structure and the opening page content as quickly as possible, and then
loading everything else in the background with minimal user interruption.
Visitor frustration and impatience with delays caused by constant page reloads is virtually
eliminated with Web 2.0 technology, and shopping cart and site abandonment is greatly reduced.
Visitors to sites hosted by us are free to roam around sites quickly and easily by selecting
menu items, and they can move at will from topic to topic without having to wait for page
reloads.
You've visited those awful sites that repeatedly download pages from the internet for
even the simplest updates. And to add insult to injury, you often have to click
on buttons to get the page to refresh, such as when a shopping cart total changes
after altering the quantity.
Our site templates change all that by incorporating standard web page features, such as
Menus, Shopping Carts, E-Mail, and Pricing and Contact pages, into Web 2.0 designs,
so that your Web 2.0 site can be brought on-line quickly and inexpensively. This
Web2AJAX site is based on Template # 3 from the "Examples" section.
With our modular building block approach to web sites, you no longer have to pay a
programmer perhaps $ 75,000 a year, or $ 50 - $ 75 an hour for contract work, and
you can focus on your business while we design and manage your web site.
Hosting
The sites we build minimize page refreshes and button clicks with Web 2.0 technology
like AJAX, XMLHttpRequest, JavaScript, CSS, DHTML, PHP, and VBScript. And our reasonable
monthly rates for site management and hosting include routine maintenance such as updating
content, search engine submission, and Google advertising submission ( Google
charges are additional ), so you don't need programmers for web site
work.
As well as site designs based on existing templates, completely customized sites can
be provided, and we charge a very reasonable hourly consulting fee for design and
programming work. The decision on which way to go is often based on budget and
time constraints, but whichever way you choose, our Web 2.0 sites are all cross-browser
compatible and work with Microsoft IE, Mozilla Firefox, Apple Safari, Opera, and
Netscape.
When we manage your site design and hosting, payment options let you choose from modest
recurring monthly charges, or annual contracts that save you $ 200 - 300 a year
compared to the monthly rates.
There is no charge for the initial consultation with us, to discuss the type of
service you're interested in. To order service, Click the "Examples" tab and
select a design ( or you can use your own ), click the "Pricing" tab and select the
service type ( e.g. monthly or annual ), and then click the "Order" tab, fill-in
the information, and click the "Submit Order" button.

Database design and data ETL
Coding / Programming
These programming languages are used for various parts of sites :
- HTML
- DHTML
- CSS
- JavaScript
- AJAX
- PHP and / or VBScript
- SQL / ODBC
Pages built with Web 2.0 technology use CSS for table-less element
positioning and to cloak and uncloak different parts of pages as
required, and everything that can be run in the client is run in the
browser, to minimize server calls across the internet.
When server access is needed, for database and email routines for
example, PHP and VBScript are used. PHP is used mostly as it's a
universal language that operates across domains to access files at
multiple remote URL locations around the internet, thus enabling
"Mashups", which use data from third party URLs on your own site.
The JavaScript / AJAX "XMLHttpRequest" and "responseText"
functions ( when properly configured ) permit files and pages
of any type to be accessed on servers, and PHP pages called
up this way are used to access cross-domain data, files, and
web pages.
Hosting
Full Web 2.0 hosting services with email ( 50 email addresses to
start ), database, and shopping cart, plus routine maintenance
such as minor site updates, and unlimited technical support
via email, are included in all packages.
Hosting setup includes installing MS Access databases and ODBC
DSNs, as well as setting up all the e-mail accounts that you need,
and implementing all the required Web 2.0 pages on your site.
Hosting service also applies to existing web site transfers.
Credit card processing is offered as an extra cost item.
To help with your site design, some sample styles that you can use to base your design on are shown below.
You can mix and match features from one or another at will ( such as horizontal, vertical, or tabbed
menus, color scheme, layout, etc. ), and add your company-specific features as needed,
or you can use your own design ideas if you prefer.
Check this box if you do NOT want your site to use a style shown
Otherwise enter the ID here ( 1-9, A-C )
Use X for this site with the dark Maroon design or Y for this site with the Gray / Blue design
Click "Web 2.0 & AJAX" in the upper left part of the page to switch site appearance.
To order service, enter a design # in the box above, or check the "do NOT want to
use style shown" box. To use a template not shown, but located on
the "WebsiteTemplates" site, provide the Category, page number, and a description
of which template on the page to use, to identify it.
For example, "Food and Drink" page 2, Maroon "Fruit" design on top row at right
end. Or you can provide a URL to a site that you'd like to use as a
template. Next click "Order" above, and fill-in the information requested.
List changes to the design needed to meet your specific
requirements ( e.g. custom graphics and text, and their positions in the layout,
such as 'Use Template 4 with lighter green for Middle section, place text from
BodyText.doc in Middle Center section', etc. ), and when you are done,
click "Submit Order" in the "Order" section above.
Finally, check your email for the order confirmation, send the payment requested in the
email, and reply to that email with your custom graphics and text ( either as attached
files or in the email body ). You will have plenty of opportunity to finalize
the design as we build it, but the more complete it is initially the faster the
process will be. We will start work on receipt of your payment.
One-time set-up fees include complete site set-up for Template-based sites only.
For custom sites from scratch, hourly Design, Consulting, and Programming fees also
apply, in addition to the monthly hosting fees.
Remote Design and Consulting - 1 hr minimum $ 50.00 / hr
( There is no charge for the initial consultation )
